I use LightWave for commercial projects once in a while, but I don't use it for a living.

I started using Lightwave on the Amiga ages ago.
Still remember when the first PC version was announced.
Today Lightwave is a main source of my income.
I teach it at the National Academy of Arts and Craft in Norway, and help artists sell ideas for architectural commisions through Lightwave models and renders.

I don't think I'll ever reach the point where I find that there is something I want to do that is not possible with Lightwave.
(in visualisation, that is..)

It's easy to make a living on your Lightwave skills.
- Maya has more features for character animation, but the renderer sucks. If you're using Renderman, why not model in Lightwave?
- 3DS Max takes much more to master, and the renderer sucks.
- SoftImage. Why?

Just focus on what Lightwave does best:
Small jobs with great results.
