Is it a mac you are using - if so there is a lot of posts through out the board about this.

We have tried (with other sites) many different formats.

The divx seems to work great here with philips tutorials as the quality/ sound is good. It was a choice between this and quick time.

wmv was out of the question as mac users go nuts when we use this - and I have big problems with quicktime, so do many others. I think the format will be staying the same for some time at least and sorry for any inconvieniance

Hi Cron,

it usually isn't the player but the missing codec that causes problems. Go to www.divx.com and get the latest DivX codec for mac. That should enable you to play all of our movies.

cheers,

philip

Default Movie solution

Perhaps, as this is often a problem for Mac users, it would be a good idea to provide the simple solution, as a subject thread, for viewing the movie files on Mac.
For example:
To view the movies go to:
http://www.divx.com/divx/
Download the latest free version of DivX which will enable you to view the tutorial movies through 'Quicktime'. If you have a problem with sound syncing simply drop the .avi file onto the DivX 'Validator' application. Avi files with MP3 audio have a compatability problem with Quicktime which 'Validator' fixes. If you have previously installed the '3vix' codec you may need to remove or disable it before viewing the tutorial movies as it can override the DivX codec.
To Access the DivX decoder post-processing options hold down the 'option key' after double clicking on the movie file.

Hope this helps.
