Methinks you're going to have a long wait, Johnny!

@Kumar - I have the academic version of XSI and it was an absolute steal considering its pedigree. I quite like the package too, not as much as Lightwave, but its still good and easy to learn too.

When I got my copy of XSI, it was during the time when they had the offer of get XSI version 2 and get the upgrade to version 3 for free. The package consisted of the CDs (I think there were four, one for Windows, one for Linux, one for Irix and the documentation CD) and the dongle and that was about it. No paper documentation at all, but it is a fully functioning Advanced version which means I have access to hair and all that other malarky that comes with it. Try out the demo version and see what you think. I still prefer Lightwave as a modeller since its what I'm most familiar with, but with XSI, I do come across some nice little features where I end up thinking "Hey, I could do with that in Lightwave". The interface looks as if it were designed by Fisher Price as well, but at least its fairly easy to navigate.

Hmm,,, interesting... well... i think i should try it out,,, but some Cds and books came in for Lightwave and Maya,.,,, so think it will be a while longer before i do anything with XSI... Just checking it out.... The customer videos and stuff are a great feature. Thanks for the info Fallen... the price of the edu version is what is most appealing for me,... Kind of attracting me in a suttle way. Hehe

Kumar - might be worth reading what they're saying about XSI at CGTalk:

Oh yeh, and another small point about the academic version - they don't expect you to shell out the 800 bucks or whatever for the technical support.
