Hi everyone,
I am attempting the Mclaren tutorial and will need help and your guidance througout :p I have always wanted to make a realistic car and have tried with nurbs and got pretty far then got lost. I have never done spline modeling before so I hope its easy to follow. Here is the free tutorial part. How do i get my user interface the same as Philip's ? My Numeric thing floats Now on to the splines |

The way I matched my screen to Phillip's (with the numeric and layer windows on the side) was to size down the size of the lightwave window (instead of having it full-screen, then place and size my other windows as necessary... if you close LightWave after you do this, it should save these positions. By the way, welcome!

Yep, learning alot already
Just did tutorial 2, woah the rear part was the hardest, might have to redo it over since lots of time the blueprint didn't match all views. |

Hi welcome I hope you enjoy this tutorial as much as I do. You have a great start there, nice spline cage. I also notice that my blueprints dont match exactly all the time but dont worry to much just keep it close.

Yep, blueprints not matching perfectly is a constant problem - no matter what you're modelling. Still, since we're not working in a CAD package, precise measurements don't matter too much, so just eyeball it - if it looks right, then it pobably is right
You've made a great start on that so far already. The only advice I can give you at the moment here is just to make sure that you've got each section right before moving on - and make sure to save (as different files) on a regular basis. |

Having some patching problems.
All the edges are welded, but I still can't patch it. I get curves do not cross correctly. |

Since you've checked that all the points at the patch corners are welded correctly, the next thing to look at is the direction of the curves. Try flipping your curves one by one to see if that makes a difference.

Ah found the problem, I sometimes used the polygon instead of control + p spline poly, fixed the bottom part.
This is awesome! End of Tut 3 onto 4 |
