Default import audio into layout?

I have a question about animating dialogue

is there anyway to import audio into lightwaves layout so I can match/sync up the dialogue with my character?

Open scene editor. Click the audio tab and import away.

Yep. Lightwave will only cope with .wav files for audio. If you look in your LW.cfg (or LW8.cfg) file then you'll see a bunch of entries that start 'FileType'. It's these that tell the application what file extentions are for what type of file.
