Default WH40k: SpaceMarine Dreadnought

Yes everyone, im a sad 3d loser: im making a big mofo robot!

I love the detail that these robots have, so ive decided to make one up and see if i can get some basic animation going. First step is to actually make the thing though!

Here is my start with the legs:

The scale is going to be screwed up because im working off random photos i find on the net so some things will shrink while others grow during the production cycle!!

Hey - it has the magic words attached to it - Warhammer 40000! This is certainly going to be one WIP to watch. Nice detailing so far!

Ok here is a small update. The proportion is really looking off now, and ill be shrinking the feet once i finish the torso off!
Not sure which weapons ill give the dreadnought though, any suggestions?

I havent done too much on this model for the past few days because today i am picking up the actualy Dreadnought model from one of my mates who plays WH40k. so i can get a bit more acuracy into my model.

Couldnt help doing some animation any though! Walkcycle is done and now playing around with the flag physics:

Textures are on their way! I got carried away with animating its walk cycle and stuff.

Anyideas how i can make an effective muzzle flash for the machine gun? Ive tried modelling one, particle effects and volumateric lighting but i cant get a nice effect!

Could just try a lens flare with lots of points that is tied to a blinking light..... May give you what you want?

Just a minor update today. I've started a few textures, just the main armour panels, but they still need a bit of work before i post them here. Photoshop is far from my strong point!!!

Very neat model. How do you do your micro bevels?
