hi there,, cool character,,, i would look for reference before adjusting some of the things,,, the head needs more adjustment,,, needs to have narrower lower jaw,,,, neck looks a litle of,,, the mapping looks like a nice start,,,, as for the clothing,,, the upper body,,, tone down the pecks,,, and you might want to add some wrinkles rather than crust,,,,, Hehe,,,

Default alright

Thanks for the advice Kumar,

I kinda like the jaw, but alot of people I have shows this to say the same thing so I guess its time to thin it....alittle. Just wondering out there whats the best way to simulate the look of cloth? I just added a procedural texture but it still doesnt look that good. the whole character is coming in at 6253 polys, so its not to heavy is it? I read that for most games character need to be under 5k. This isnt really a game character but I still dont want it to be too loaded with polys. Again thanks for your input ill try to work on the head and neck and post some updates as others give there advice.

reference helps before I start, just a little thing his swords should be on his left hip, unless he is a rare left handed samurai, right about the model,
the best way to produce real cloth would be like this here or you can try and reduce the size of the procedural texture and expriement using multiple layers.
try make the sleeves more baggy add some folds in both the jacket and the hakama also try an enlarge his obi (belt) and some straps for his geta (wooden sandals).
You got a good model there but it can be better.

Good luck dude

I agree that I need a reference, this one just started one night when I was board so I never really came up with one, and it’s all just how I envision it. As for what side the swords should be one....well im left handed so it just seemed natural for me to have things on my right hip, so that’s where I put them, I guess since the major population is right handed I should change that. Have I mentioned that im a poor art student? with that said im glad you pointed out the cloth tut on this site but I can’t afford the points to buy it , this is a WIP and thanks for your comments they really do help I hope to have some updates prolly by tomorrow as ill work on this all night tonight. Thanks for your time.
