Thumbs down useless tutorial disks from Kurv Studios

hi all,
i paid Newtek $1710.10 on 5 September 2004 for Lightwave 8 and a bunch of books and disk tutorials which appeared to be just what a neophyte like me needs to climb the steep learning curve to get to where i wanna be.

i got Lightwave 8 ok, but not the promised books and only a couple of the disks tutes from Kurv Studios.

one of the disks only produces an error message that directs me to a site that sells stuff to make the disk work.

Lightwave is consulting their corporate leaders and have no answers for me.

Wes Kurv appears to only be interested in more money for other products and more of my personal information.

has anyone else run into this kind of treatment? it is very disappointing.

I suspect this is Martin Treu... as I asked you on SEVERAL occasions to simply give us a good serial number.. I even offered to call you to get the right number. The issue is you provided us with the wrong number, this has happened before and other just provided us with the rigth number. If we do not have that number NewTek will not pay us... see the issue here. Were not trying to be a pain, and I told you that.

I went ahead and sent you the videos minus Kaze which is on backorder. I did this because KURV is MY company and I did not want to push the issue for 1 package... I do not own Wordware and can not control them, you make it sounds as if only a few of the tutorials came... when in fact all of them did just not Kaze which we notified everyone it was on back order.

Right, let me know who you talked to... I will call them Monday first thing.... I know and talk to on a regular occasion everyone there.

Our disk do NOT direct you to a page to buy something else, this is simply a false statement. Why done you post a screen shot of that for us to prove it... the only software you HAVE to have is Quicktime player and thats free...

LOL.. right like a phone number to call and try to help you.. I sent you several emails asking you for the rigth number, even told you how many digits it should have and what it starts with... you still replyed with rude emails... I can post them here if you like... then I asked for your phone number offering to call and help you locate the license or serial number... and got a responce of "why dont I just give you my bank account number and SS#"... I just gave up after that...

Martin, tell you what I will contact Irene and William this weekend and find out if you truly are a Lightwave registered user and qualify for this promotional package (this is not my responsibility, but I will do it because I want to know now if you really bought LW or is you just trying to get free material out of us). If you are a registerd user... I will send you the books from Wordware... if not then you just got some free training from KURV and should not be going around complaining about it.. free is free...

How does this sound to everyone else here...

thank you, Kurv, for your reply.
i do not know how to make a screen shot, or to post it here, but if explain i will do it.

your disk doesn't work, and the error massage reads:

"Bone Tools" (this from a disk that is labled and boxed as I.K.
Booster) "ERROR LOADING PAGE CONTENTS
VISIT 6Bytes Software

i was emailing with Melissa Holden at Newtek, Kurv.

--please remember that you called me a liar and a thief, on this forum, Kurv --- read the emails, posted below:

Hi Martin,

I have contacted both New Riders and Word Ware, to tell them to send you the LightWave training books. They have not responded to me, but I will continue trying to contact them. Please let me know if you receive anything from either company. Thank you for your patience.

Best Regards,

Melissa

I contacted Mr. Beckwith of Word Ware to tell him that you are eligible for the training materials and to go ahead and send them to you. I understand that you live in New Jersey and are familiar with the consumer protection policies. We are based out of San Antonio, Texas. Chapter 38 Section 253 states that a consumer should not have to provide payment for something that is advertised as free. Mr. Beckwith asking for your serial number, is for proof of purchase, which is perfectly legal and practised all the time. If you would like me to contact the other two publishers, and let them know you are eligible for the free items, to prevent you from having to give your serial number, I will. I look forward to your response.

Martin,

I have not had any emails from Melissa yet, I will contact her Monday. As I have said to you over and over via email...

">The serial number below is incorrect, please resubmit this information
>with the correct serial number at
>http://www.wordware.com/newtek_special/"

You said...

"Subject: Re: NEWTEK PROMOTION WORDWARE

i don't know what you are talking about.
martin treu"

I said

"We do not show this number as a valid LW serial number.

>LW_Serial: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"

Then you said

"From: MartinTreu [mailto:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]
Sent: Friday, October 01, 2004 1:10 PM
To: wbeckwith@wordware.com
Subject: Re: NEWTEK PROMOTION WORDWARE

why is that my problem?"

I said...

"The number is not a valid serial number... the LW serial numbers start with a "2".

I am not trying to be difficult here, but we can not ship your books unless we get a valid serial number for LW... other wise NewTek will not reimburse us for the products."

It goes on from there and goes further down hill with me trying to help Martin and Martin getting more belligerent.

If Melissa tells me Monday that you’re authorized I will process the books from Wordware

If you have a problem with the CD we will send you another CD from KURV, that’s not an issue at all we support our products.

As for me saying it looks to us like you may be a person trying to get free material... sorry but it does... How else can you explain someone nicely asking you for the correct serial number... the information NewTek asks us to ask you for and you getting belligerent spouting NJ state laws on advertising... If you had just said you really would rather us not have your serial number I would have simply said I will contact NT.... your responses of "Why's that my problem" or "Why done you just ask for my bank account number and SS#" is a little off the wall... and makes us think you don’t really have a valid serial number.

Literally you are the ONLY person out of hundreds to act this way or refuse to give us a valid number.

If you would just work with us as we tried to work with you... this would not even be an issue.

OK folks, this is really now getting into the realms of what should be a private matter between kurv, ajax and Newtek. I think both sides of the argument should now be apparent to everyone, and I'd ask you all to now take this matter off a public forum and sort it out between yourselves

Hopefully, this is a simple misunderstanding between everyone and it can (eventually) be resolved amicably.
