Req for info on point system
At the risk of hitting tilt, who do I have to talk to in order to get information on potentially intergrating the point system into my CG portal? I have written to two people, the last one being the person who coded the scripts. (or so I was told) I don't want to come off as rude, but I have written on at least three occasions with no response.
All I am asking for is a bit of info as to whether or not this point system is available for use... or if I have to pay someone to code it for me. thank you.

Send a PM to Kevin or David. They should be able to answer your questions.

Hi
I mailed you back telling you to ask dave. If he has not replied it either means he is to busy right now Or not seen your mail. But either way you would have to pay dave to add it to your site Regards Kevin |

I emailed Dave on Monday morning. I sent him a PM either yesterday or the day before. I totally understand ppl being too busy, as I am one of them. However, I really need to move on this project and need to put some sort of system in place soon. I would gladly pay him for his services, but it sounds like he does not have the time.
I understand the uCS hack on vbulletin.org does something similar to the point system, but it looks too geared towards pushing "forum economy" - fake money. (though they offer a paypal plugin, it still has too much fluff) My next option will be to use a real e-commerce system like CubeCart or oS e-Commerce. I still prefer your point system though.

Sorry been away, you would need a dedicated server to run our points system on.
As to bandwidth we use around 40 Gb a day approx accross 4 dedicated servers David |

Ahoy! lol... I have broken through.
I have a dedicated static IP, if that's what you're referring to. As far as bandwidth goes, well, I will just have to keep a close eye on that. I think my cap is around 60GB a month, but that can be bumped up at any time. So then, where do I go from here? ...and, perhaps we should now take this up in regular emails.

You need root access to a *NIX box of some description. You'll also need to know how to administrate a *NIX based server.
I'm sorry to say the points system for security reasons has never been released by me to anyone else. Unfortunately nor will it ever be. Where you go from here is to find a programmer, and possible a web development firm, make sure they know there security or people will be downloading your paid for content free inside a week. Okay... fair enough. I appreciate the information and advice. I will review other alternatives... including having someone look into coding this system on my server.
thanks
