How do I extrude the yellow marked polygons and keep the overall shape of them?
They need to be extruded 20 cm so they nolonger align with the other polygons. I've tri'ed smooth shifting them, but that does'nt work, and neither does Extender plus, because afterwards the polygons can't be moved in the direction that the polygons are facing. Hope someone can help with this problem. ![]() |

not quite sure what you mean. could you draw in where you want the polygons to be extended to?

try the smooth scale after a smooth shift. Simply select smooth shift and then right click, then try to use the smooth scale and set a reasonable offset distance.

kumar: I tri'ed using the smoothshift and then the smoothscale with an offset, and this is the result.
The problem is marked by the red circles. The offset makes the rounded edges invert, and the roundness between the polygons is no longer there... Do you have any other suggestions?? colto: Hope this picture makes it clearer what polygons have to be moved and in what direction. |

Try using the tool point Normal move. It is in the modify tab somewhere.

colto: Did'nt work, look at image below. Made the same polygons as before invert, but thanks anyway...
I think the only way to do it is by using Extender plus and then somehow get the polygons to move in the direction of the polygon normal. Does it make sense, hope so... |

Solved the problem. I used the Extender Plus (Great new tool in lightwave 8) and afterwards moved the extention by stretching it from x,y,z 0.
![]() Thanks to colto and kumar for their help.. ![]() |

Hehe,,, did not see that your edge was actually rounded... Then the strect tool would work after your smooth shift,,, just strecth it in the direction you want... but then again,,, since you already done it,,, drats...:p
