Default May/June Challenge Rules and Guidelines!

May/June Challenge!

Undersea creatures!

For this challenge, design and create a creature of underwater origin. It can be real or imaginary. Texturing/Shading IS required.

1) Show concept drawings! Show your progress!

2) BONUS goal(s): As a bonus goal, create a nice underwater scene for your creature. It doesnt have to be super detailed. The challenge will be creating an underwater ambiance.

3) Label your thread thusly:

May/June - Norm or Noob - Your name

Choose to classify yourself as a Normal or Noobie class entry. Whichever class you choose is the class your final submitted entry will compete against! A winner will be chosen from both classes.

4) Mods and Admins can enter, but are inelligible to win and do not count toward the Grand Prize consideration of 8 or 5 entries mentioned below. If a mod chooses to participate, choose "Mod" class rather than Norm or Noob.

5) If 8+ Normal entries and/or 5+ Newbie entries finish among the 3 Simply sites participating (SM, SL, SMax), a Grand Prize will be rewarded to the class! VIP point prizes will be awarded to both a Normal and/or Newbie winner, if the Grand Prize criteria of entries is not met for that class.

6) Final entries must be posted into a Final Entry thread that a mod will create in the last week of the challenge.

The due date of the challenge is June 30th!

Normal Grand Prize:

A book (any art subject book, whether educational or reference or whatever) and 14 points

Newbie Grand Prize:

A book (Lightwave book only) and 14 points

Ask any questions here!

Sounds interesting. I don't know If I should enter since I have a lot of experience in creating undersea creatures.

One other question, where do you look to see who won last months comp.?

one question, do you need to texture ALL surfaces??

is it required to only texture most of the underwater creature but let smaller details un-textured??

i mean, if i don't feel the teeth ( or some other small detail like the eyes ) needs some textures, can i just make them without textures?

hope this question does make sense. i realy don't know how to explain it better in english

EDIT: another question, is their a texture-resolution limit?
what's the maximum size??

Can be textured or materials.

No limit to resolution.

G'day mtmckinley!

Is there an image size requirement/minimum for this comp (eg: 1024x768 pixels) or are final images limited to a file size for upload (or both?!?) - this is the first one i'm enterin' here and thought I should check before I get too far with scene composition!

Cheers! priimate.

Unless you host the image yourself, we prefer you keep it 640x480 or so
