Question Do you use 3rd party plugs?

Just a general question. Do you use 3rd Party plugs? The ones that are free only,.. or do you have it all? I'm trying to get a feel for using plugs in the tutorials and am wondering what the SL members use or even if members just want to see how commercial plugs work in varoius tutorials. My current method is to show native lightwave plugs, 3rd party plugs as well as commercial plugs or applications.

I use both. Of the commercial ones I use I primarily use the full sas, Frpime, G2, and polk from Worley. I have a couple of the dynamic realities plugs but they're not working great with 8.3 and I haer a fix is coming. I also use Elki's programs as well as Olas Pawel's plugs.

From a freeware standpoint, I use quite a few, but the most helpful ones are the Jetto series (jetto_bevel, etc.).

It all depends on the task, and what I'm trying to acocmplish. Is this the type of feedback you were looking for?

Thanks hooptie. The reason I was wondering about it is I've known some LW users that don't have access to extra plugs at work but I wasn't sure if they would be interested in 3rd party tools. I'd guess that most users have access free plugs at least, but you never know.
It's hard to beat Worley's plugs. I can't imagine working without Fprime. Unfold3d is working it's way up my list of must have plugs too.

Hi David,

At this point I just use Lightwave straight out of the box. Still learning though. Don't have any Worley plug-ins......not yet. If you were going to use free plugins in your tutorials, having a link too where you get them would be handy.

Cheers

Thanks for your input odeone. I'll be sure to show where to get the plugs.

Not advertising a different site for training purposes or anything, so hope this won't be a problem post, but if you ever have any doubt about where to find a plug, I'd recommend www.flay.com and do a search on their plugin database. It's amazing what's out there.

I have a partner and we run a small (notice the word small) freelance shop. We work in LW, Maya, and XSI, depending on what our client wants and needs, and who's doing the modeling etc. We also use a number of other tools such as Bodypaint and Zbrush.

My strongest suits are modeling in LW, so my plugs are either driven in that way, or to help where I'm weak (hence Fprime and G2 from Worley, since I'm weaker in texturing and lighting).

I'm always on the look out for plugs that help me do things faster, like the rope plugin. Cheap price, wide variety of uses, etc. I don't do much character work, that's my partner's strength, although I'm learning.

I think it'd be a great idea to include either the link or the plug with the author's permission in the training materials as well.
