Wow! Certainly shocked by that - I thought the Mayans had this one sewn up! Admittedly, when I saw Cgrein's final and how quick he was getting on with it, it really impressed me - he started out almost halfway through the competition. Just goes to show you, it ain't over til the fat lady sings!
Congrats, CGrein - you did a fantastic job - the meshes for the finer details like the mic were really well done (and we still don't know how you did it - hint hint) Congrats too to cris007 - Nice render. Well done to all who took part as well - I always learn a lot in these things because you're forced to do stuff you've never really done before and in a short period of time! |

Cgrein, I just checked your wip thread and i must say i was amazed of what i saw. There are so many fine details that cannot even be seen in this picture. And i simply loved the angle where you got to show the leather. Truly outstanding. Congratulations. And also, thanks on my behalf for everyones compliments. I would have posted this in the simplymaya forum as well, but sadly the thread was closed there.

Thanks guys, and congratulations to cris007 and all who took part in this challenge.
I still can't believe I'm the winner. I finished the work in the last day, if you look the timestamp in my posts for the final entries you'll see the time spent between the renders... And as I said, I didn't have time to finish all the texture work. Here's is a little explanation about how the mic mesh was done: http://www.freepgs.com/cgrein/micmeshtut.zip Probably there is an easier way to do it, but as Fallenswordsman said: "I always learn a lot in these things because you're forced to do stuff you've never really done before and in a short period of time!" Thank you all. Creyton Grein (cgrein) |
