Default Is this really working?

I was surfing on the internet and i came on this site:
http://www.3drt.com/3dm/3dm.htm

Is it really working to sell 3d models on the internet? Why would someone buy them? What are they going to do with it?

Can someone give me a good reason why people are buying 3d models?

Just wondering

Simple reason - people buy 3D models because they don't have time or can't model them themselves. If you're looking at a large animation project, for example, that's an awful lot of modelling to potentially do, so why not buy in a few models and use those instead and cut your work load down. Personally I doubt I would buy anything myself unless it was a really seriously cool model - but if it was that seriously cool, I'd probably just end up trying to model it myself.

Thanks for the explanation Fallensword,

I wouldn't buy one myself too. And are their really so much people/companny's wo can't model something in time and need to buy one?

And if you want to use an 3d model for personal use, it isn't original because everyone can get that 3d model. So, where is the fun in that?

It is cool if you can get money this way, but i just can't imagine how good it is working.

Actually.. I believe companys like turbosquid ( www.turbosquid.com ) makes quite good money on selling models, even though their pricing is out of this world..
Perhaps www.simply3dmodels.com would be a good idea
