Default SewerHero (Gallery submission)

Here's my version of a real Sewer Hero!! I'm glad to have finished, it had been sitting around for some time. But also bummed that the fun is over. Sure some of you out there might now what I mean, when you finish a project.
It's my first project to have tried UV mapping, wow ....what a learning experience!!! It was lots of fun...from lots of reading, tweaking UV's and painting the texture maps. I'm looking forward in using my new skills on my other projects in waiting. Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I'm enjoying SimplyLightwave and just finished watching the Caveman DVD set. I HIGHLY recommend it!!

Keep Creating,

J

That's looks great very original. Glad you like the tutorials here. I hope they are helping you as much as me!

Can you make a bigger render so we can see more details. If I ever get lost in the sewers I hope he comes to save me.

I wouldn't want to stand BEHIND him in that sewer with the fan blowing....
wait, isn't that a proverb : when the shit hits the fan....:lmao:

nice work though !
I personally would make the bumpmaps on the wall a little more subtle, perhaps slightly smaller in size. Other than that I have no remarks...

UV is something I have to learn more about too.
Do you have any pointers to good information ?!

The scene reminds me of HL2.

I agree with admiralbcd about the bump map.

Thanks guys for the comments.

I did lots of browsing on the net, but two books that I'd recommend are: Lightwave 3D 8 Texturing and Lightwave 3d 8 1001 tips & tricks. Both can be found at THIS WEBSITE

OK just had to find out what HL2 and who Gordon Freeman is. I've only seen bits of it, but I do take that as a positive comment.

I have some other characters in the works, a kind of industerial themed sort of crew. Seems those hard workin' folk don't get enough time in the spotlite. hahahaa

yes it was a positive comment
In Half life 2 you can drive that kind of vehicle too, and you drive in a location like that.

But since your character was looking so different than Gordon Freeman, i was wondering what had happend to him.

You raised my curiosity, about the vehicle in HL2, so I did some surfing. I found a screenshot of the airboat, which is a more realistic look. Mine however... I took a little more unique creativity and chose to create my own. My "sewerbuggy" (what I like to call it) frame is made of pipe. The seat is actually a toilet and it runs off of CH4 (methane). There are 4 tanks under the toilet that hold the compressed gas, which is runs to the high tech engine in the toilet tank. I figured being a vehicle in the sewer, what better source of fuel than methane!!

unfortunally, most of the time I don't finish my 3d objects :headbang:

But I can upload some finished work on my website if you want to.
And also keep your eyes open for new w.i.ps from me on this site

nice work! How long have you been working with LW? If you like I can point out some good books and training DVDs that I've studied.
