Default Under the Sea Effects

Hi, everybody!

I am rather new to this forum... well, I admit I am also rather new to Lightwave too.

I am working on a project that involves an under-sea scene with a whale. I am just about done... except for the backround volumetrics (the rays of light in the backround) and the caustics (on the ocean floor).

I was wondering if somebody could reply with a tutorial (or maybe just a link to a tutorial) of how to set that up.

I have a picture attached of a frame from the animation. For the picture, I used a still image projected out of a light. However, I want the caustics to move.

Also, is there a way to have an AVI movie project out of a light?

I would welcome any critics on what I have so far in the picture.

Please, talk simple because I am a beginner.

Thank you for your time.

Wow 3Der, I like that ! I do know that you can use a procedural texture called underwater apply it to a polygon , load the polygon into lightwave and point the camrea at it, you'll have to render an image sequence to tweak the different settings in the procedural texture. Once you get looking right, then render for the length you need. Then apply the sequence to a spot light to make a movable shadow similiar to what you're looking for. I've only tried it with the underwater procedural but you might try others that might get you the look you are after!
Good Luck!

there is another tip.
create a white image, and load in lightwave, open image editor, and add filter called "textured filter"
and load underwater texture and setup correct parameter to have good black pattern, then you can apply white image to spot, and voilą you have animated texture that you project with spot...
good luck
