May/June Final NEWBIE Entries!
Post your finals here! Only final entries, please. If you'd like to comment on them, please do so at their original thread.
Final entries that are attached to the forum should be no larger than 640x480. If you'd like to post larger images, please link to them from your own hosting. Feel free to post wires, texture maps, etc and describe your entry. Preferably with your animation videos, host them elsewhere to avoid having to compress them too much to fit in an attachment. Make sure you link to any codecs that you are using if possible. Only images and videos posted in the final entry threads will be considered up for the final judging. Thanks! |

I'll have to post now since I'll be in for a rough couple of weeks and I don't know if I'll be able to reach a computer then.
Ok, so.... this is my noob animation entry. I used my Pyre model which I've rigged. The model sits at around 10k polygons, but as mtmckinley said "Size does not matter!" I made a small plasma :p multi screen (you'll see it in one of the screenshots) so you can see the action from all orthographic angles and from a mobile nose camera parented to the head, besides the normal, perspective angle. I've used the DivX 5.2.0 Pro codec which came bundled with the AceMega Codecs Pack 6.03 free download, which you can get at this link here And here they are: Pyre Landing...........Pyre Hover And here are some multi-screenshots of the two animations, as requested by the rules. (Yeah, I know, it sounds cool) http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/3...ndss1qc.th.jpg...........................http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/8...erss0rj.th.jpg They're not too big but I decided to upload them to a free host to save space on this site. (Ain't I a nice guy?) Anyway, the first animation is a landing from level flight, that can easily be added at the end of a series of aerial atacks, or after the hero character has hit the dragon (which will be considered the bad guy for this example) and injured it, taking away x health points. The dragon will land and try to fight the hero on the ground, maybe barbequeing him in the process. The skin on the wings deforms to simulate air pressing against it. Also, on the face cam, you can see the extra, small animations done to the eyes, jaw, nose, tongue to make it more 'alive'. Also, I particularely like the two small jolts when the dragon prepares for touch down, and actually makes contact with the ground. The second animation is, like the name says, a point hover (Harrier style) that can go well as an idle animation cycle or, why not, coupled with a planar movement of the body and a nice flamethrower effect, an atack animation. At a closer look on the face cam you can see, again, small detail animations of the mouth and nose opening to get more air, and fingers straining under the effort of flapping those huge wings. The skin of the wings also deforms, but more visibly here since the strain on the skin is greater. If anybody wants to see the smaller screen animations separately, just say so, they're all rendered and waiting. What more can I say? Good luck to everyone, including me! P.S. To download the files just go to the right and click the third option: Download then go to the bottom of the new page and click the name... and there you have it.
