In Newtek's v9 manual for Modeler there is a brief mention of a tool called "Edge Weights" (page 280) that I cannot locate. I searched in the Additional tools pull-down menu and even did a search for it in the edit menu window. Am I reading this wrong and its part of another tool or is it really missing from the interface?
Thanks |

Hmm... not sure. I've just checked an installation of 9.3 and can't find the tool in there either.
There is an edge weights tutorial video on the Newtek website that might help [although I got sound I wasn't able to get the video to play]... ftp://ftp.newtek.com/products/LightWave/Trial/Videos |

I checked that newtek video link that mark posted- that is a very cool tool, just what i was looking for....... dont know if you eventually got your video to play, but in the video he subpatches a box using catmull-clark, selects the top edges and clicks on map/wights/more/set sharpness- to 100%
it only effects the selected vertices, not the connecting ones (like when you used to weight points) so you end up with a smooth egg cup shape rather than a deformed cup with a square top...... very nice |
