Default Sprite projection and Words Problem

I was trying the free tutorial by William Vaughan over at the newtek.com lightwave training modules and he showed a neat trick of projecting images as particles (sprites to be exact). He used it to show bullet casings ejecting.

I tried the technique using .tga, .jpg files of words for a project and while Viper displays the words perfectly, when I hit F9 the render it shows me is reversed! Mirror imaged!

It is really annoying and I spent a good hour trying to fix it and found out that if I used the Classic Camera, the render will come out nice and proper. I was using the Perspective Camera at the start. The same problem even occurs when using the Advance Camera.

My question is why is this glitch popping up? What if I need to use the Perspective camera for a scene AND need to use this sprite projection trick as well in the same scene?

Thanks for reading!

PS
By the way, what is the difference between the Classic Camera and the Perspective Camera?

Not sure about your glitch, but the question about the difference between classic and perspective cameras I can answer.
The Classic camera was the only one available in older versions of LW.

The perspective camera from the manual:
" Similar to the Classic Camera, however there are some differences to note. The Perspective camera renders from the top of the frame down. More complex scenes tend to render faster with the Perspective Camera. POINTS AND LINES DO NOT RENDER WITH THE PERSPECTIVE CAMERA"

I wasn't shouting, I couldn't get the bold highlights to work

thanks!

Hm, maybe because of the way more advance cameras render that the sprites end up all goofy. oh well, I hope this gets addressed in LW Core.

For what it's worth, I've had problems with different things in Light Wave from v8.0 that haven't been resolved. repeated calls to tech support have only been resolved once by me after getting some more information. It seems if you aren't an important studio they tend to forget about you.

I always have hope that the next version will correct it but I have always been disappointed. I expect the same from Core, just magnified because there will be many more bugs they will need to fix before they get around to the ones you need fixed. I hate to be negative, but I chalk it up to experience.
