Default Dual Display.....how to?

fellow SLW'ers,
it seems that a lot of you guys have dual displays, well me happy
cause i now have it to. ehh, oh yea, the question:
start up LWM, put a few sub-windows on the second display (like the numeric panel, layers, etc.), close LWM....and now my panels
are back on the first display. is it possible that it stays on the second after a restart? if so, please tell me how. i have a GeForceFX5600

thnx in advance!

Not sure if LW has that option or where it is, but the Nvidia drivers have an option for that.

The nView control panel has a checkbox you need to check in order to remember application window settings. It might be available through the wizard for setting up a profile also.

Endorphin - you need to uncheck the 'Extend Windows desktop onto this display' box from the normal Advanced display properties, then select the strtched modes from the nVidia drivers.

This way, Windows won't be controlling the screen, and you can select a nice 2048 x 1024 display (or larger)...

However, if you play a lot of games on your PC, you're screwed since most other software will want to stick the display, dialogs etc, right in the middle of your desktop - which means right in the gap between the monitors.

Of course, you could always opt for a second display adaptor and a third monitor.....

Mark,
that is not working....when i uncheck 'Extend Windows desktop onto this display', i can not select the strtched modes from the nVidia drivers, it should be in the Nview options, right?
.....what do i do wrong??
oh, and i don't play games on my PC

Did you try and use the dual monitor setup wizard. Just go to Nview properties and on the info tab use the Wizard and go through it slowley.

ok Johnny9ball, here we go:
- Automaticly enable Nviewe at startup: yes
- profile: generic
- allow window spanning: yes
- reposition dialog boxes: off
- enable Nview sytem menu extensions: off
- i want to use multiple desktops: off
- turn on explorer extension: off
- make windows transparant when dragging: off
- make windows maximize faster: on
- finish
now, when i start up LW modeler, i still get the panels (like numeric, layers, etc.) back on the main monitor, when i put them on the second monitor, then quit modeler, start it up again......they are back on the first monitor again....grrrr

Is Dual View enabled on your settings?

I would also try and uninstall the video driver and reinstall the latest one to see if that could fix it.

funny thing is, i can drag LWmodeler across two monitors, and also put the panels on the second monitor. but when i restart modeler, modeler itself remains on two monitors but all panels are back to one monitor.....strange
dirvers are clean install, latest drivers. Photoshop does remember the settings of the panels...

Is there a settings file for Nview? If so I could send you mine then you could try and swap it out.

Ah bummer - I wouldn't mind trying dual monitors myself, but the closest thing I can get is sticking black sticky tape down the middle of my existing monitor and just pretending.

Damn, that must be one helluva large widescreen monitor you've already got then...
