i like it, especially the lightning on the floor.

did you turn smooth surfaces on to the bed and the night-table?
if yes, you might turn it off for better results. Or maybe lower the specularity.

I messed with lightwave once. The thing I liked was sasquash or was it saslite... ermm. well lightwave isn't my thing.

Looking good priimate. I like your cartoony feel too. I guess thats your style huh? Considering last compition had the same feel to it. Anyway, keep the wips flowing :attn:

Hi All! Cheers for the feedback!

Yeah, I hit smooth surfaces for some of the furniture to quickly see if the specular highlights were showing up, before going back and re-naming various areas for smooth or flat finishes. There are also no textures on my last wips - all the objects are multi-coloured for easy surface ID, but the blue light kills off a lot of the colour.

As far as styling goes, I hadn't really thought too much about it. This pic probably won't be as cartoony as the last comp. (or at least I hope not! - outside of anime, not many cartoon characters inspire a real feeling of fear or loathing!) I think the final lighting will give it a less cartoony feel as well because you will only see a bit of the geometry due to the shadows.

Started adding basic textures, I'm still debating carpet or hard wood flooring - might go with wood so I can add some rugs to give the scene more detail. Just a white 100% point light on the ceiling so I can see actual texture colours while i'm working.

Cheers! priimate.

looking real nice man only crit is about the walls i like the texture patern but around the edges it seem as if the wall pulls out like a padded cell or pillow? keep it up man as far as what you wanna do with the floor i would too so you can break away from all the color get some relects going an all that good stuff.

What's that shadow on the floor from the door to the lower right part of the image?

Hi guys!

@ equinox: I think it's a bit of an optical illusion (I noticed it too!). I applied a ambient occlusion shader to the walls to add a little dirt in the joins. That, combined with the pattern on the wallpaper makes it look a little odd - they kinda clash in a funny way.

@ Bullet_Evader: Originally the floor poly terminated across the front face of the door, with a second poly that filled the space directly under the door (a result of Booleaning the door out of the wall). I merged those two polys as part of "house-keeping" the scene. The resulting artifact only appears when Saslite renders the carpet - not with the hard wood floor that I think i'll use.

Both these things are results of toying around with settings, so they'll definately not be present later on!

Cheers Guys!

I'd go for the wooden floor as carpet adds that plush, warm type of feeling.

Nice work so far.
