cheers.

The idea with the design is some1 can sit in the corner and put their feet up on the longer bits and chill, watch a movie read a book. This is called the chill out room, but we also have another living room directly above it that is alot more traditional. leather sofa's ect....

Hi, im putting 2gether my final renders for this class and ive been looking at alot of 3D interior Design for Lighting Ref and i love the way they do the windows. I have a pretty good idea of how to do it in post production but i was just wondering if there are any tuts out there, it would be nice to do a bit of it in 3D so i get a feel for where the light should be and where it should be softer ect.... i can always make it more the way i like it in photoshop after. But it would be nice as a ref point if i had the basics down in my render

Cheers in Advance !

here are some renders for what im goin for, that intense glow

Not really sure what you're actually asking, as it sounds like you're looking for a lesson in lighting theory (you mean Virtual Environments didnt answer all your questions on this???).
To do the kind of lighting that you appear to be looking for, i personally would use high intensity area lights with fall off - and i might even slap on some radiosity if my computer doesnt start squealing. Another option would be external HDRI images. Volumetrics might be an option if you want to get a nice streaking effect coming into the room.

Nicholas Boughens book on Lighting would be a good place to start if you're looking for lighting ideas...

I wouldn't know about that, me being a poor student and all I couldn't afford the luxury of having something like FPrime, one day maybe.

Try looking at this tutorial here:
http://homepage.mac.com/janoverust/FileSharing6.html

A lot of the effects you're looking at looks to be area lights to me set outside of various windows with radiosity thrown in to bounce light around the place. I'm no lighting expert by any stretch of the imagination though.
