Default Tool to extrude side of polygons?

Hello,
I am new to 3d modeling and using lightwave, but have been following the joan of arc tutorial written for 3dsmax.

http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials...c/joanmenu.asp

There is a modeling function in max which I've found is a little difficult to duplicate in lightwave. The whole tutorial uses it. I'd like to ask if there's a way to easily do this with the current tools, or if a plugin or lscript could be written to do it.

Max command: (Select the one outer edge and holding down the shift key use Move to move the edge away. Max extrudes the edge and creates a new rectangle (quadrangle or quad).

so far, I've just had to make it point by point, and then make the polygons for each point. neither the bevel or extender commands in lightwave produce the correct results.

If there was a plugin or lscript to select multiple points, clone those points in a way that they can be moved out to form adjoining polygons, that would work too. (preferably would work with multiple polygons' points at the same time)

Does anyone have any suggestions or workarounds?

Under the multiply tab there is a tool called 'Extrude',
you can extrude a polygon to make a square or a rectangle.

Hope that helps!

EXTENDER which is included with lightwave does this, and works well enough if you select only 2 verts at a time. If you try and extrude several edges at once it creates overlapped flipped polys that are a pain to fix.

Bets bet is to go to flay, and either search for pozz-extender, or FI's OExtender (the one I use).

Cheers!
