Default Sea Side Villa

Hi, about time i get a thread started for my building :p

This is for Virtual Environments class at Uni :p

Here is what i got so far, The theme is basically a dream home. Its been totally designed from scratch and built on an old pier.

Im nearly onto the textures, which is the hard bit, it will make or break the project, look out for updates :p

Cheers

Been workin on the textures, here are some early tests, i really liked these, im just refining them more, getting rid of the seems and also the parts which show tileing, but on the whole i think they should work well, with some nice bump/diffuse maps :p

Texturing is really hard, but its good when u eventually start gettin them on the models.

Updates comin soon :attn:

I like the life belt!

All that water and one little life belt, just puts things into perspective.:p
...Oh, wait there's two, oh well then, never mind!

Lookin good, get them cliffs sorted.

You modellin' a boat too?

How much you think it'd cost for something like that then?

It would prob cost millions, as for the boat, a house like this would need a yatch and thats a big modelling thing, so i think ill leave it

lol. Just have a wee dingy. The house costs so much there's no money left over for a half decent boat!

Im having trouble with this sunset scene. The pic on the left is the F9 render and the other stuff ive added in photoshop of what id like to achieve in lightwave. This has to be rendered as a movie so i need to re-create these inside of lightwave. Any help would be great.

Shadows in the wee water cove are hard because the water has a high reflective surface and im not sure how to do the horizon and make it jump out at ya :headbang:

Cheers

Have you tried a bit of a lens flare on the horizon light? That may help it looks brighter and more sun like!
Give it a bit of an orangy red tint too!
Erm, if you want more shadow, couldn't you just move the light over a bit more (or lower) or try bringing up the percentage? Then if you need more light at your end stick another light there with less percentage than the main one. Or even cheat by projecting a shadow onto the water if you want to make it really specific.

Bare in mind that lights can be negative if the need arises...

I never knew that kris, ill give it a shot ! :attn:

I was tryin the Mclaren lighint video tut for my scene, ive used the image u get with it and im at the bit where im tryin to fade the water into the horizon, in the video he says he selects distance to object then he selects master null. he dosent show u in the scene were the null is but im guessin that u put the null in the distance where u want it to fade out, but i tried this and it doesnt work for some reason im really wanting to add this effect because it adds so much to the scene and gets rid of that horrible knife cut as a horizon, if anybody knows what he was doin on the vid and dosent mind sharing then drop us a we note :p

Cheers In Advance

I dont know the technique you're talking about coz I cant afford fancy McLaren tutorials But have you tried turning fog on with colour set to background for fading?
