Default Screenwriter: suggestions

Hey guys,

I’ve been working on this character now for about 5 or 6 hours, I think the head is at a good stage now to start tweaking features to give him exaggerated personality.

My intention for this character is to be a failed screenwriter in a short animated piece, so I want him to look and act eccentric. The person this is based on is such a person so no problems with the movement, however I’m aiming at a hyper real look so I feel I need to make him look realer than real if that makes any sense?

So I was hoping for some suggestions, crits, or tips on going about this!

Also I’m having trouble with the nose, I’m not sure whether you can see it in the screen shot but his nostril is pinching on either edges.

Thanks

Thats awsome wadis, coming along nicely the back of the head is looking a bit wonky you might want to tweak that a bit

AWESOME!!! Little question. What is that little thing on the guys eyelid. Probably something to do with the stretching of the lower resolution textures. So I guess that will probably get fixed. Also the eye has too much specularity....it needs to look wetter instead. Other that, OUTSTANDING JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to be this good.

thanks for the comments colto,

that bump on the eyelid is due to the incomplete bump map

Keep at it, once you figure out the basics theres no limit to what you can do!

This is coming along very nicely. Sorry to point out a modelling niggle at this stage in the game but to me, his mouth doesn't look quite wide enough and the corners of the mouth look fairly angular. But the texturing looks like its coming along great guns. Top job!

I know about the mouth, it's been giving me the biggest headache!

the problem is that it's pinching in the corners

if anyone has any tips on fixing this problem that would be much appriciated

I'll try and put together a quick brief on how I do mouths tomorrow - can't promise that this will fix it but at least you can see another approach

Hey heres the new texture;

Having problems with the specularity at the moment, I've tried diffrent light rigs and this render is 1 area key light and 1 spot fill light with shadows off. Any sugggestions on good lighting riggs would be appriciated! However i think the spec map needs tweaking.

Does anyone know some good texture settings to make my eyes more wet looking? The settings i have now are:

eyeball
no spec

cornea
spec - 200
Gloss - 70
frefract - 1.3

I'll try and put together a quick brief on how I do mouths tomorrow - can't promise that this will fix it but at least you can see another approach
Wadis
Thanks Fallenswordman that would be great
