Niiiiice, AvP...love it.
Unfortunetly I'm too young and didn't get to play all those good ol' games, (
Oh well...

Just a thought: you could make the boots steel tipped so they're more menacing well, as menacing as a boot can be.

P.S. Can't wait to see the rest. Are you going to do the hair too? Or just give her a wicked helmet?

Anyway...best of luck to you!

Thanks, Nostromo. Too young? There should be some classic gaming sites out there that could give you some ideas. Just pick one and join in!

The idea is that I'm going to stick in hair depending on how difficult it is to do and time restrictions.

Steel tipped boots - now there's an idea - I'll keep that in mind for the texturing stage.

Anyway, that's me done for the weekend - back to work tomorrow and might not be able to touch her again (oo-er missus) until next weekend.

Boot has now been stitched together and I've added some lace holes and given the leather a bit of depth. The only thing left for the boots is the laces.

Nice boots so far.

Rest is looking good to. Her breasts could be a bit more rounder/smoother. Try to work in that more!

Cheers, Bullet - the armour is more of a placeholder for now - I have to add a lot of detail. I'm just wondering whether or not to give her a pulse rifle - that alone will take a lot of modelling and I just spent an entire weekend doing just her boots. The sword seems a pretty stupid thing to add on. I know its an integral part of the character but when you consider itl would you really want to attack an alien with a samurai sword with all that acid for blood going on? Its pretty much a one shot weapon unless its made out of an acid proof alloy.

Thank you for the kind words. You make me blush.... but I think I'm gonna pas on this challenge.
There must be sites with good ol' classics but I want to know a game, the ideea behind it, the philosophy (I know I ask a lot but that't how I am)
I wish I had entered in the last one :headbang: (fear, loathing, light) that was a nice one and I had some ideas but, oh well, that's life. But now I'm kinda busy with school  and a few projects, one of which may actually result in some funds (:attn: ) so .....
GOOD LUCK to all and to all a good night

Anyway... Maybe the sword is for harakiri/sepuku/suicide in case the facehugger gives her a big wet kiss Ain't I a nice guy?

[Edit] (Damn) Me again Just a thought: maybe the sword has no real use. It's a good luck charm, to give her strength and keep her safe from harm, like a rabit's foot, only sharper and less fluffy

Quick head update - still got to do some minor tweaks to the lips and nose - I'm hoping to get the head finished by the end of the week.

@Nostromo - challeneges usually are centered around different CG disciplines including texturing, rendering, lighting, modelling and even animation - who knows what the next challenge will throw up so maybe you can have a go at the next one.

In the AVP game, the sword was actually quite a useful weapon, Capcom just seemed to have taken a bit of artistic license in it not getting completely melted.

One can only hope to proove himself in battle...

Until then I'm thinkin what cat should I enter: Beginer, Completely noob, noob by a long shot, not even in the same area code as noob, etc.
See, I have a problem with self esteem

Anyway... we'll live and see what's behind the next corner, who knows... maybe it's your path...

On the sword matter, have you considered to make the sword out of a special alloy, or maybe plastic, carbon fiber, gold, platinum (no, not the card) etc. There are enough substances in nature that don't care if they're in acid or blood, even if it's green and fluorescent.

One more thing and I'm off: If you actually want to give her a pulse riffle but you wouldn't want to make it the central piece of the theme, but instead place it over her soulder or something, you could just cheat and fake it with a cylinder and a sculpted cube or something, aligned just right to look like the riffle from above. Then you add the belt that holds the riffle over her shoulder and voila! This would save you a lot of time with modeling and still add to the complexity of the character. If you already thought about it, this just prooves that the idea is good
No one get mad at me for this, ok? If you don't like the idea, don't read.

Bye and good luck.

Great improvements on the head FallenSwordsman.Give the lower lip a bit more volume though.
Looks like their is a flat part in the middle part of it.

I'm not happy with this head at all....too many bumps and lumps, and shows that I'm out of practice....the lips aren't right, the eyes aren't right - nothing is right. :headbang:
...but because I'm running out of time (yeh I know I have a month left still) I might have to leave it at this. What I think I'll do next is to model the rest of the body and then see if I have time to redo the head. Definitely frustrated at the moment though.

Hey it isn't that bad. Just place the mouth a bit higher and also shorten the chin vertically.

I think you can fix that easy, and it would look much better.

Good luck with the rest of the body!

Cheers, Bullet - started on the armour this weekend. Hopefully this won't take too long....this is a huge piece of redesign work though and I'm wondering how much of the original character I'm keeping since the entire outfit seems to be slowly getting redone. Admittedly, the chestpiece is the same so far, but I'll probably be redoing it to add detail and rework the curvature. I don't even know if the camoflagued trousers will fit with the rest of the costume now...

Still working on the body....need some adjustments here and there and it looks as if I may well need to do the pulse rifle just to draw her back to being the original Linn Kurosawa rather than making it look like an archetypal chick in body armour.
