Default Sept/Oct - Norm - Fallenswordsman

Finally decided to enter the fray. I'm fairly computerless at the moment so you won't see any modelling for at least a week or so until my main machine gets fixed.

Anyway....I finally decided on the charater Linn Kurosawa from Capcom's "Aliens vs Predator" game.

Final reference picture to get an idea of the character...

It was a toss up between her, Alisia Dragoon (along with Dragon), the girl from Alien Storm (big makeover possibilities there as she only wore a yellow jumpsuit - I envisioned a much more well designed costume with logos and more of a Kill Bill Uma Thurman style) and one of the Samurai Spirits girls, but I thought they would have been ineligable due to Samurai Spirits 64...

First ideas for redesign...

I really don't like her chest armour at all - it looks horribly unweildy and must make it next to impossible to move - I'm envisioning something more dynamic and flexible - maybe with plates shifting over each other for the chest piece. I may well get rid of the shoulder piece altogether - again, it looks unweildy to me.

Not entirely sure about the orange combat trousers either - might have to change the colour scheme somewhat to make her look more battleworn and I'm not sure if having camoflague at all will help her against any aliens.

I'll spend the next week of computer repairing trying to draw up some alternate designs and trying to put a scene together.

If you want to give her camoflague for the predators, then you should create a cool mud texture ( like in the first movie where arnold schwarzenegger is unseen because of all the mud ).
some green army clothes wont help i think. lol!

anyhow. cool character. I would keep the face like it is now.

now show us some progress

Cheers, Bullet.

Just been doing a bit of research and it appears there was a SNES version of this.

I also want to make sure I'm following rules here - I am aware that there have been two first person shooters for the PC called Aliens vs Predator and one Playstation game which was some sort of strategy thingy I believe but none of these really bared much similarity to the scrolling beat-em up that I've highlighted here. But I just want to make sure, before I continue, that I'm still within the rules here. Linn Kurosawa, as far as I know has never appeared in 3D. Mike, am I able to carry on with this selection of character?

Early days - basic head build - no distinguishing features built on yet. Still using a slow slow computer though

Cheers, Sharp. Not much to add - just defining out the head a bit more - I find nostrils as difficult, if not more difficult than ears because of the finer details and making the nostril wings look just right. Hence the lack of any real progress. The modelling will proceed a lot faster once I've got the head in place.

Thanks Mr.Tickle! Minor update - I have done more of the head but its still incomplete - but then I thought it would be a good idea to start on the armour as well.

I seem to be dodging around a bit on this one...started modelling the boots now.

@Blueflies - unfortunately I'm not quite clued up on what I'm doing - I'm winging it a lot of the time, but its going well anyway

The boot has been modelled by making the individual pieces of leather in different layers, then moving them all into one layer and stitching them together with the weld tool. Just have to stick the tongue of the boot in place properly and then put on the laces.
