Dude thats looking great, are you going to texture the head, torso, feet, etc. to look like skin or metal. In other words full robot, or cyborg? The model lloks great but I would add a bunch of smaller wires wrapping all around the dinos spine from head to tail with little branches of them running to various parts(would make the detail extraordinary!) But you also need to keep you're polys low. If u dont like the wire idea then I would suggest that you add extra details like small motors, screws, gears, etc. Maybe an LCD panel? Come to think of it gears inside the torso would look awesome and very machine like!

hey looks great man...only thing it needs is an engine!!! dont know where his engine is. but i think it will looks better if you build an engine somewhere!!! maybe at the place where the legs connect to the body???

anyhow...looks great!! keep going

thanks alot guys but i don't get the idea of the gears and stuff inside the torso... What's the use of putting them there if they're not going to be visible? Could someone explain? hmmm...???

I'll look into the idea of the gears or some kind of machinery in his torso, it seems right, but that'l probably be useless unless i create the I, Robot-tish look... but i'll have to keep poly counts in my mind, big time. I'll post some updates today.

By adding the gears it would create the look that the arms and legs are rotated by gears that are attached to the engine in the torso(I just put a box but detail could be added to make it look like an engine). With these I think it would look more powerful but if you were going for the I-Robot look then I would make the engine the same texture as the head, torso, thighs, etc. and not add detail to it(so it looked like my example). If you don't like the look of it then thats fine but I thought that I would give you a visual refrence of my idea.

-edit-: P.S. I needed to try my hand at some more photoshop anyway!

Unfortunately, while neat looking gears would not be the operating mechanism for something like the legs... because you would need quite mess of gears and cams.

However, the gears and pumps would be used to drive the hydraulic pumps that would drive the hydraulic cylinders that actuate the legs.

Just my 2 cents looking at it from a reality POV as a designer myself...

It is really a good attempt! Keep it up.

true, there would be more gears but i just wanted to show him where I thought that they would go. Also maybe hydraulics weren't used but rather thick musclewire. If this is from the future then I think that MuscleWire would be a better idea. That way, the spine, body, legs, etc. could move in any direction depending on the type of electric signal sent through them. This would actually eliminate the need for hydraulics or gears, but rather just a CPU. AHA! Yes that would be great, instead of using gears and an engine just put some type of computer chip there with all those wires in the middle hooking up to it. That would be perfect for the I-Robot like theme of the project.

okay, here's just a texture test on the leg, i've made a couple of different ones, but here's one which i like more than the rest. its just a test and by no means, final...

a more I, Robot-tish look, i just played with the transparency and refelctions a little, isn't quite interesting but maybe it'll look better on the entire robot...

i put some small modifications here. I just loaded the belly part up with a whole bunch of wires, i added some screws and a plate that will have the name of the dino written on it over the thigh, I put an eye in there and put a couple of teeth. I used a couple of plug-ins and stuff to reduce the poly's of the wires, so now i'm down to 9,000 poly's.

Looks good so far. One crit is that the vertebra where the head meets the neck doesn't look quite right - one side looks too angular compared to the other - it also doesn't look as though its sitting quite right on the main neck line either. Top effort though.

Wow - somehow I missed the development of this one. Certainly looks like its coming along nicely. Just hope you can get it finished in time.
