how many lights are there in the scene ? for a realistic render try to use a powerfull source located outside...lets say...area light and one smaller for the interior....spotlight or even a point light...use Montecarlo radiosity ! and no volumetrics

put a 65% area light about 100 m from the window and one point light as the lightbulb of that thing hanging from the roof
