Default glowing light in a vacuum tube

Anybody have any good tips on doing this?
It's a glass tube, like a vacuum tube on a tube amp. I want it to have a glowing filament(sp?) in it. I'm trying it with point lights and no fall off with Volumetric set with a small radius.
I just want there to be a glowing light within the tube and not outside of it. Am I using the wrong light or?

Thanks

I'd be tempted to model the filament and set it to 100% luminous, switch glow on and then add the corona plugin to the scene for rendering...
