3ds can track real camera... can Lightwave?
Right now, when I want to composite CGI and real-life video in 3ds, I can use the 3ds 'Motion Tracker' utility to track (and eventually match) key reference points in the real-life video footage. It's a powerful way to match the 3D CGI camera to the real-life camera for seamless compositing in Combustion or After Effects. (also, the Motion Traker is a built in utility that saves me from having to buy a plug-in)
I'd love to replace 3ds with Lightwave... if Lightwave can perform the same camera-matching task. 1) How can you match the 3d camera in Lightwave with the camera reference points in real-life video footage? 2) How can Lightwave do this with built-in utilities without the need to purchase additional plug-ins? there's nothing included with LW that allows this. There is "Imperfect Camera Match," a free 3rd party plug, but I think it's intended for stills, not anims.
