Default Robot animation

Hey there,
Im fairly new to lightwave, Ive learnt how to do quite abit now, but I made this mech early on, and have tried for ages to follow tutorials etc on rigging, parenting etc.But just keep failing! Its different to normal, organic charac modelling isnt it? I really need help. I need to learn how to do it in a couple of weeks so I can complete an animation im doing for my uni dissertation, is this unrealistic?

Take all your parts into layout it looks like you have LW8 any ways in modler set your pivote points where you think your parts will bend, rotate, move. whats youve done that swich to layout when you select a layer you should notice you can move your obj layers can be moved by the new pivots you made...

So you can set pivot points in Modeler? How do you do that?
I'm using him in an animation in which he does a lot of moving (running, smashing against buildings, firing a big cannon), so his movements need to be quite detailed. Similar to that of a humans...
Would greatly appretiate some help.
Cheers

the default pivot point is 0,0,0 so you can just align your part in modeller so that wherever you want to be your pivot is at 0,0,0. I however think it is easier to do in Layout.

hi,
I find setting pivot points is actually much easier in modeler, in the view>Layers section there is a Pivot button, when you press this, a blue cross will appear which is the pivot point fot that layer. Its then just a case of clicking in the viewports to place it
