May/June -Norm- swankymonkey
Well, considering my name I guess its gotta be Sea Monkeys.
I've never entered a competition for 3D before so I suppose its time to get my feet wet. I've got a lot of ideas swimming around in my head for this Give me a few days to work up the first concept sketches. I don't want to just dive right in. This is gonna be fun! |

OK. Heres the first sketch. Not sure if I want to lean more toward CARTOONISH. My main goal is to create cool textures so the model will be pretty simple.

Thanks Mike!
Heres one final ortho view to get me started modeling. I will probably add fins here and there and I want to do some interesting seahorse style texturing ... let the 3D begin! http://tenthchoir.com/May_June_Challenge006.jpg |

Hi Bullet
Yeah, I started with a lonely little poly box and then metaformed it and used a lot of extends. I'm thinking of metaforming the mesh again. Either that or manually adding the extra geometry. When I switch off the subpatches the base mesh looks pretty crazy. Last edited by swankymonkey; 14-05-2005 at 09:40 PM. |

Good start on the base mesh for your monkey.
To get the extra detail i usually tone down the patch division to 2 and then freeze the mesh. That way each polygon turns into 4 polygons. (patch division 2 or 1? i cant remember anymore...)
