Hi guys!
I've been working on different models for practice for quite awhile and have only recently tried using those practice models for a bit of animation. My problem now is that they are of different sizes and when I import them one after another in layout, everything gets screwed up in terms of size. For example: I have 2 characters of roughly the same scale, but when I import the terrain where they are suppose to be (bigger scale), they can barely be found. And to add to the headache, the lights and cameras also gets screwed up. I've tried slapping the bigger objects in first but the problem still persists (the smaller objects are like points and I have to scale them up for such a long time). Is there a way where I can scale everything (all the small objects) at the same time? Or maybe lock the overall scale of everything so when I import larger objects (backdrop or spaceships) they would not screw up the scale of the scene, cameras and lights? Thanks in advance and yes I have learned to keep all my models at about a manageable "standard" scale to avoid future headaches! asha_hardwire |

Goto Display Preferences (the "d" key), then change the Grid Square Size to something like 1 m. That should fix your problem.

Yeah, I've set a uniform grid size but the problem still persists.
For example in Layout, I have a 1m tall character in a scene. Then I import a 1km tall building, the camera and lights gets pretty much screwed (getting blown up to gigantic proportions) while the original character becomes like a dot. :headbang: Yeah, I know that being 1m tall in a 1km building will make you look like a dot :p but the camera scale gets screwed and i occasionally have to redo everything after setting up bones and motion tracks. :headbang: :headbang: I guess what I want to happen is that when I have my 1m tall object already in the scene, and I import the 1km tall object, the camera and lights and the 1m tall object won't get messed up by the bigger object. Hope the example helps. The character is in the scene, but when I pop in the backdrop, the camera and lights become gigantic and to the scale of the bigger object! ![]() ![]() |

Yeah, again, after you import the large object, goto the Display settings, set the grid size, and all will be well again... camera and light size, everything.
