Default How to make a WAVE?

hi!

I just would make a realistic wave, but without any particles. Just w/ displacement map. I've already modeled my ocean and animated it w/ turbulence displacement map, but how to make a huge wave which will crash on buildings (like in the day after :p )
I hope my english was good because i'm french, so sorry if i'm not very clear :o

THANK YOU

Keyword is realistic,,, so i suggest you try www.nextlimit.com for the plugin or particals. Either way if realism is what you want,,, you need to use particals at the waves which are breaking.... You can read the book maya secreats of the pros... there is a technique which was used in a film. Displacement is good for major ocean,,,, but the crashing part... its particals i guess... but then again you can export meshes from the plugin and .... object sequecene....

Ok ok by now i have confused you..

So look at the site for the plugin if you can.

Or try reading the book i mentioned... even if you are not buying it.. Hehe...

But remember that particals is what you are heading towards.. no other way if you want realism.... that is.

Ok,

thank you Kumar. I'll follow the way of particles if it's the only way to realistic wave.
But I think I will not buy the Maya's book :p
Thank you again.

Try NextLimit's Realflow demo. Quick easy and free for the download for experimentation.

Expensive to buy, but by far the most realistic water in the world. It also incorporates a program called Realwave which works just as well.

That's the way dynamics are supposed to work.
