Question SubPatch model cleanup..?

Im a new user but Im not. i used to use Lightwave some time ago on my Amiga 3000 but since then it has undergone some considerable changes.... That aside, heree is my question... I have been teaching myself to model using sub patch. I have come up with some really cool models that Im happy with in preview but the actual renders are lacking... What do you suggest to clean up a sub patch model to make it look more clean and polished..? (I am referring to the shadow issues and some of the poly issues that occur when using bones with sub patch models). This is a vague question I know but a reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the first thing that comes to mind is up your subpatch resolution in Layout. To do this select your model, hit "p" to bring up the object properties panel, and set the render subpatch divisions to a higher value.

that is if I'm not misunderstanding your question....

you could post a screenshot here and maybe circle the problematic areas...

Thumbs up subpatch...

Thanks for the reply... Ill try your suggestion. If Im still having problems Ill get some stills on here for you to look at... What it is really is that after spending an eternity tweaking my model in modeler to get it looking right, I take it into Layout and it doesnt look nearly as polished. It just seems that there are little imperfections between polys that weren't there before and also the shadows look poor. Ill try your advice and see what I come up with, thanks again.

the default for both the render and display divisions is 3 in layout. In modeler, you can adjust the SubPatch divisions globally (hit "o" to bring up the gebearal options panel...), in Layout it's per object.

If you have a subpatched model with 3 in the setting. if you change it to 6 will it take effect or will it take effect on your next subpatch.

When you change the subpatch lvl it changes all the subpatches in the object.
