Generic female body *warning nudity*
Latest work in progress and first work using splines - I think its a little polygon heavy at the moment, but I'm quite happy with the results so far.

Just a few technical notes to add to this: the background templates that I've been using (not visible here) are from Akira Gomi's book, Americans 1.0. The whole idea of this model is to create a fairly anatomically accurate female body model that I can adapt for further character modelling that I might want to do. The other reason for building this was to learn a bit about spline modelling. With any luck, and a bit of work, I should be able to create a full body using this method.
At the moment, there are no plans for adding a head just yet - I'll get the rest of the body finished first, then probably decide on making a character out of it. |

You should not put a warning for the nudity. You should say Generic female body "Bonus Nudity Inside". The nipples look a little perkey, is it cold in modeler?

That's looking good.
I'm interested in using splines for character modeling myself. Could you show us the spline cage you used for this model? |

Thanks for comments, guys:
@Johnny - I just put the warning there just in case there are any small children passing through or people who got upset about this sort of thing. But making it a bonus isn't such a bad idea - give it a good selling point. And yes, you're right the nipples are a bit perky. I might try and fix those for the next update. @Rincewind - I was really put off from spline modelling characters for ages - I didn't know what I was doing and so polygon modelling seemed a lot easier to me and that's what I stuck with for ages. Then, having seen another persons work in another forum, I ended up thinking that it might be worth having another crack at it. I'll post up a spline cage once I get back home. Just a word of warning though - I wouldn't necessarily accept my spline cage as the definitive one for human modelling - I'm still learning how to use splines properly so some might just be fairly arbitrary in their placing. Currently working on legs and butt - finding legs difficult as they have a lot of overlapping muscle masses to deal with. |

I think that torso looks great. I guess modeler can get a little nippley...I ummm mean nippy..... I like working with spine cages when it comes to organic forms... especially the torso area.....box modelling can be great for shoulders, arms and legs though. keep up the great work!

As requested - here's the spline cage that I've made thusfar. I've added just a suggestion of the back and one quarter of the leg - these aren't going to be used within the full model, they're just there to give me some indication as to where the features will end up.
@Quaoar - I would really like to learn how to box model better but I just can't seem to wrap my head around it - I think I just haven't had the patience yet to practice enough, so I'll probably stick with splines for this. |

Hope you don't mind Swordsman, I thought I'd add my old spline cage from a model I was working on earlier.... As you can see I actually used splines for the legs....

Don't mind at all - its good to see how people interpret the same subject matter and the differences in approaches used. Lol - mine looks so totally point heavy compared to yours! I just have so much fun with that point creation tool, I just go a bit crazy with it at times. Just like grown-up dot-to-dot.
As an extra note, the nipples are the only parts where I ended up using three sided spline patches or whatever you call them - the rest of them are four sided. |

i just dont get it... how people can feel offended by content like that? the kind of poeple who feel like that should be prepared for nudity just when coming into forums like this. isn't it true that we are all participating in viewing/showing art? ART... ART...
sorry 4 my english, v.

These screen shots look good. I think i'll have to try spline modeling a character. It seems a very nice way of doing it.

Quick update - although I've been working quite a lot on this, I don't have much to show for it. The back muscles are proving difficult to recreate primarily due to my lack of anatomical knowledge in this area - I'm particularly having trouble with figuring out how the muscles curve around the ribcage plus the muscles going from the top of the back to the neck are also proving difficult. This is becoming frustratingly slow in progressing, but I'm still working on it.

Well this has started taking a lot longer to make any progress on. This is primarily to do with the fact that I'm trying to wrap the mucles around the ribcage and that I've set the goal that all muscles should be seen as separate from one another. Somehow I seem to be getting a bit lost on both of those as I progress. I now have a dip in the back that really shouldn't be there, but hopefully that's down to one misplaced spline. But the parts down the middle of the back I'm quite happy with for now.
